“Highways” Warns of Congestion and Recommends Organizing Travel During Eid al-Adha Holidays

Rabat – The National Motorway Company of Morocco has urged road users to plan their travel in advance in preparation for anticipated heavy traffic during the upcoming Eid al-Adha holidays.

According to a statement released by the company, the motorway network will experience significant congestion, particularly during the following periods: Thursday and Friday, June 5 and 6, 2025, between 3:00 PM and 10:00 PM, and Monday, June 9, 2025, which coincides with the return period from the holiday, between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM.

To ensure a safe and comfortable journey, the company recommended several practical measures for road users, including:

  • Planning travel in advance to avoid peak hours.
  • Downloading the “ADMTRAFIC” app to monitor real-time traffic conditions.
  • Ensuring the “Jawaz” prepaid toll balance is topped up, either via the new electronic app or through available digital and physical channels, including rest stop stores.

The statement also highlighted the importance of checking the vehicle’s mechanical condition, especially the tires, and taking breaks after every two hours of driving. It stressed avoiding the use of emergency lanes unless absolutely necessary. The company further advised drivers to exercise caution in the event of adverse weather conditions, such as strong winds or thick fog.

In line with its strategy for managing peak periods, the company confirmed it would activate the “comprehensive vigilance” system, which includes:

  • Strengthening monitoring and roadside assistance teams,
  • Performing proactive maintenance on infrastructure and equipment,
  • Enhancing communication channels with road users,
  • Collaborating with various institutional stakeholders.
