Guercif, Morocco – Police elements from the Guercif regional security district today, Thursday, May 29, 2025, successfully arrested three individuals, aged between 22 and 47, on suspicion of their involvement in cases related to the trafficking of hard drugs and the possession and use of a firearm (a hunting rifle) under circumstances that posed a threat to the safety of individuals and property.

The arrested individuals include a woman, a person with a criminal record, and a Moroccan expatriate residing abroad.

Preliminary investigation data indicates that police intervention occurred to apprehend the suspects who were engaged in a violent altercation among themselves, near a traffic control point at the entrance of Guercif city, coming from Taounate. The situation escalated to one of them using a hunting rifle and firing a shot, before police elements managed to arrest all of them and seize the hunting rifle used in the assault.

The search operation conducted on the suspects and inside a light vehicle with foreign license plates they were traveling in, resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cocaine, two electronic scales, and a bladed weapon. Furthermore, a search conducted at a house used by the suspects in the rural Houara area led to the seizure of 50 hunting cartridges.

A check of the suspects’ records in the national security databases revealed that one of them, who used the hunting weapon to fire a shot, was the subject of several national arrest warrants issued by the judicial police and Royal Gendarmerie in Guercif, on suspicion of his involvement in the possession and trafficking of hard drugs.
