Casablanca: National security elements at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca apprehended a 68-year-old Swedish national of Turkish origin today, Wednesday, May 14, 2025. The individual was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) under a red notice requested by the National Central Bureau in Stockholm at the beginning of 2024.
The arrest aims to enforce a prison sentence issued against the suspect by the Swedish judiciary for his involvement in violent sexual assaults committed in 2021.
The suspect has been placed in police custody pending his referral to the competent public prosecutor’s office for further legal proceedings. Simultaneously, the National Central Bureau “Interpol Rabat Office,” under the Directorate General of National Security, has been tasked with notifying its counterpart in Sweden of the arrest in accordance with extradition procedures.
This arrest underscores the commitment of Moroccan security services to activating international security cooperation mechanisms, particularly in the pursuit and apprehension of individuals wanted internationally in cases of transnational crime.
