The Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, announced the holding of partial elections to elect members of municipal councils in several provinces, which will take place on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
This decision was published in the latest edition of the Official Gazette (Issue 7389). The partial elections will cover 151 municipalities across 50 provinces or prefectures, and more than 200 vacant seats in these municipal councils will be filled.
The Minister of the Interior explained that these partial elections are part of the ongoing efforts to organize local affairs and strengthen citizen representation in various municipal councils.
This process aims to fill vacant seats in certain municipalities, contributing to the continued operation of local governance and fostering greater interaction between local councils and citizens.
It is worth noting that these partial elections will take place in several regions of the kingdom, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to enhancing political participation at the grassroots level and ensuring balanced representation within municipal councils.
