On the morning of December 10, 2024, local authorities in the Ain Chkef area initiated a new campaign to reclaim public property. This campaign is part of a series of similar actions carried out across the city of Fez and the broader Fes-Meknes region. The campaign specifically targeted cafés and small restaurants (snacks) that were occupying large portions of sidewalks and streets, disrupting pedestrian and vehicle movement.
The operation was well-organized and carefully planned, with local authorities inspecting several cafés that had been illegally using the sidewalks, which negatively impacted the smooth flow of pedestrian traffic. The initiative aims to regulate the use of public spaces and ensure that public areas remain accessible to everyone.
As shown in the images, many encroachments on the sidewalks were removed, including signs and other obstacles blocking traffic. Measures were also put in place to prevent future violations.
