The internet market in Morocco recorded a significant increase of 6.5% by the end of September 2024, reaching 42.1 million subscribers, with a record penetration rate of 112.7%, according to the General Directorate of Treasury and External Financing.
The directorate highlighted in its latest economic note that the penetration rate showed a notable increase compared to previous years, standing at 106.8% in September 2023 and 74.1% in September 2019.
In the mobile phone sector, the number of subscribers reached around 60.3 million, recording a growth of 5.2% compared to the previous year. The mobile phone penetration rate reached a record level of 161.3%, compared to 154.8% a year ago and 133.5% in the third quarter of 2019.
The fixed telephone sector maintained its growth, with 3 million subscribers, an increase of 6.4% by the end of September 2024, compared to a 7.6% rise in the previous year.
