United Airlines has announced a groundbreaking initiative by launching the first-ever direct flight connecting New York to Marrakech, enhancing communication opportunities between the United States and North Africa.
This flight marks the initial outcome of a cooperation agreement signed last March between the Moroccan National Tourism Office and the American airline.
The inauguration of this air route coincided with a special inaugural flight, which was attended by a high-level delegation from United Airlines, led by Patrick Quayle, the company’s Vice President of International Network. The delegation arrived in Marrakech to a grand welcome.
Upon arrival, the American delegation received a warm official reception at Marrakech Airport from a team representing the Moroccan National Tourism Office, along with various professionals and stakeholders in the Moroccan tourism sector, including Hamid Ben Tahtah, President of the National Confederation of Tourism.
The inaugural flight also carried 35 representatives from leading travel and tourism companies in the United States, notably Virtuoso and Signature Travel, which are among the largest groups specializing in luxury tourism, collectively representing over 32,000 travel agents.
United Airlines will operate this air route between New York and Marrakech three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, using Boeing 767-300 aircraft that feature 167 seats. This move is expected to boost tourism and create greater opportunities for visiting Morocco.
