The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has lauded the achievements of the Moroccan national futsal team after securing a spot in the Round of 16 of the Futsal World Cup, currently being held in Uzbekistan from September 14 to October 5, 2024.
FIFA highlighted the significance of Morocco’s upcoming match against Iran, set for Thursday, September 26, 2024.
The Moroccan team is aiming to secure a victory and advance to the quarterfinals for the second consecutive time, where they will face Brazil.
The federation described the anticipated clash between Morocco and Iran as a “balanced battle,” with both teams vying for a chance to challenge Brazil.
FIFA noted that the match is expected to be competitive given the strength of both sides.
Iranian player Hossein Tayebi, speaking to FIFA, acknowledged the challenge, stating the match will be against “one of the best teams in the world,” emphasizing Morocco’s growth and strength.
He added, “Futsal fans are in for an exciting match.”
FIFA further pointed out that Morocco will rely on star players such as Soufiane El Mesrar, Soufiane Charraoui, and Idriss Raiss Feni.
On the other hand, Iran will look to key players like Salar Aghapour, Moslem Oladghobad, and Hossein Tayebi to lead their effort.
In a statement to Morocco’s sports channel, Al Riyadia, Iranian coach Vahid Shamsaei praised Morocco’s progress in player development and infrastructure, stating, “Morocco has a respected technical staff, which has contributed to the team’s success. We are fully prepared to give our best in the upcoming match.”
