The public prosecutor’s office in Bordeaux, France, announced on Tuesday the arrest of the main suspect in the murder case of 18-year-old Nabil, who died from a knife wound last May.
The prosecutor’s office confirmed that the suspect, a 22-year-old French man, was apprehended in the Moroccan city of Ifrane on September 19, four months after the crime was committed, thanks to information gathered by Interpol.
According to the autopsy results, the victim died from a single fatal wound to the left side that penetrated the heart and lung.
The Bordeaux prosecutor’s office indicated that it will soon submit an extradition request to the Moroccan authorities. This procedure typically takes a long time, potentially lasting about six months before the suspect can be handed over to French justice.
It’s worth noting that the crime occurred in the Les Aubiers neighborhood of Bordeaux on May 3, where the accused is suspected of fatally stabbing the victim, Nabil.
These developments highlight the international cooperation in combating crime and the importance of information exchange between police agencies in different countries to apprehend suspects fleeing from justice.
