Meknes, September 23, 2024 – Members of the Meknes Sports Club for Football issued a press release today expressing their strong dissatisfaction with repeated decisions to prevent the club’s fans from traveling to support their team in away matches.
The statement noted that the most recent ban occurred at the Municipal Stadium in Kenitra, where Meknes fans were denied attendance at their team’s match against Athletic Zemamra in the city of Fez. The statement pointed out that this ban comes despite allowing fans of other teams to attend in the same stadium and under similar circumstances just one day before the Meknes team’s match.
The members considered these practices a violation of the principle of equal opportunities among clubs, emphasizing that the Meknes club’s supporters are among the team’s most important backers and constitute a fundamental force in motivating and encouraging the team.
The statement called on the National Professional Football League and public authorities to intervene urgently to ensure respect for the principle of equal opportunities among all national teams regarding fan attendance. It also called for measures to enhance the spirit of fair sports competition and restore fan confidence in the decisions of the concerned authorities.
The statement concluded by affirming that the current situation has become unacceptable and contradicts the principles of sports justice that should be applied to all clubs without discrimination.
