An election rally for former U.S. President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania on Saturday evening witnessed a shooting incident. After hearing gunshots, at least three members of Trump’s Secret Service team rushed to the stage, according to video footage from the rally and a person familiar with the incident. One of them can be heard shouting, “Hawkeye here,” as members of the Secret Service’s counter-assault team ascended the stage. They were dressed in black tactical gear and carried rifles pointed towards the crowd.
According to CNN, Trump was injured in the shooting. Trump reassured the public, saying: “I’m fine and undergoing medical checks.”
The Washington Post reported that the incident occurred at a rally in Butler town, where Trump was escorted off the stage after the loud noises were heard. The first moments after the shooting were captured by a Washington Post photographer, showing blood on Trump’s ear and snipers on a nearby roof.
The Secret Service spokesperson confirmed that Trump is now safe, while no additional details about what happened or Trump’s health condition were disclosed. The incident resulted in one person being killed and the shooter also being killed.
