The General Secretariat of the Justice and Development Party (PJD) issued a statement yesterday, Thursday, revealing the contents of an exceptional meeting chaired by Abdelaziz Ammari, the Deputy Secretary-General, which addressed the selection of the presidency of the party’s parliamentary group in the House of Representatives and the nomination for the presidency of the Permanent Committee for Financial Oversight in the House of Representatives during the current legislative term.
According to the internal regulations of the parliamentary group, the presidency of the group and its candidates for the presidency of the permanent parliamentary committees are selected based on a proposal from the parliamentary group and the approval of the party’s General Secretariat. This is done through a secret vote by the members of the group, where each member proposes at least two names and up to three names. The top three names are then selected to be presented to the General Secretariat. If three candidates are not selected in the first round, a second round of voting is conducted, and the candidate with the highest number of votes according to the required number to complete the list is chosen.
During the parliamentary group meeting for this purpose, chaired by the Secretary-General of the party, Abdelilah Benkirane, and attended by 11 members of the group, Abdullah Buanu was chosen as the head of the Justice and Development Party’s parliamentary group in the House of Representatives, receiving 11 votes in the first round.
The General Secretariat of the PJD approved Aicha Al-Kout’s nomination for the presidency of the Permanent Committee for Financial Oversight in the House of Representatives with a rate of 87%, after she received 9 votes.
