Elements of the anti-gang unit, part of the Judicial Police Department in the city of Meknes, succeeded in liberating and rescuing two individuals who were victims of abduction and torture in an operation that reflects the determination and effectiveness of security agencies in combating crime and protecting citizens.
The details of the incident date back to when the police in Meknes received a notification regarding suspicion of the abduction and confinement of one of the victims inside an electrically wired metal box by an individual suspected of involvement in human trafficking within the context of illegal migration operations.
Thanks to the rapid response and high seriousness demonstrated by the Judicial Police, intensive search and investigation operations commenced, utilizing advanced technological expertise to pinpoint the location of the victim’s confinement.
Thorough investigations led to identifying the location of the victim’s confinement inside a basement of a villa in Meknes, where the unit raided the place, finding the victim trapped inside a large metal box.
The unit successfully liberated the victim and provided necessary first aid, only to discover later that another person had been confined in the same place for nearly two months.
The efforts of the Judicial Police did not stop at liberating the victims; they continued the search and investigation operations to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
The investigations resulted in the arrest of the suspect, a Moroccan citizen holding Swiss nationality, aged 51.
According to preliminary findings, investigations suggest that the motives behind these criminal acts are suspected to be related to scams and fraud within the context of illegal migration and human trafficking cases.
The suspect was detained pending further investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to complete the investigations and uncover all aspects of this heinous crime.
