Morocco – Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), praised Morocco for hosting the latest edition of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, thanking the Confederation of African Football and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, while commending the efforts that contributed to the success of the tournament and helped shine a spotlight on women’s football across the continent.
In a post published on his social media accounts, Infantino expressed his thanks to the Confederation of African Football and its president. He also extended special thanks to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and its president, Fouzi Lekjaa, as well as to the Moroccan people, for what he described as the organization of a “wonderful tournament,” which brought greater attention and visibility to women’s football.
The FIFA president’s praise came following the conclusion of the competition hosted by Morocco, which saw Cameroon win the title against Malawi. The Moroccan and Algerian national teams, along with the two finalists, also secured qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Infantino also congratulated the Cameroonian national team on winning the title and extended special congratulations to the Malawi team after reaching the final in its first participation in the tournament, describing the achievement as one worthy of pride.
In the same context, the FIFA president wished the Ghana and South Africa national teams success in their playoff match for qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Infantino’s praise for Morocco’s organization reflects the Kingdom’s growing importance as one of the African countries that regularly host continental and international football competitions. The women’s tournament provided another opportunity to highlight the development of women’s football across the continent.

Dans une publication sur ses comptes de réseaux sociaux, Infantino a exprimé ses remerciements à la Confédération africaine de football et à son président. Il a également adressé des remerciements particuliers à la Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football et à son président, Fouzi Lekjaa, ainsi qu’au peuple marocain, pour ce qu’il a décrit comme l’organisation d’un « magnifique tournoi », ayant permis au football féminin de bénéficier de davantage d’attention et de visibilité.
Les éloges du président de la FIFA sont intervenus au lendemain de la clôture de la compétition, accueillie par le Maroc, qui a vu le Cameroun remporter le titre face au Malawi. Les sélections du Maroc et de l’Algérie, ainsi que les deux finalistes, ont également assuré leur qualification pour la Coupe du monde féminine 2027 au Brésil.
Infantino a également félicité la sélection camerounaise pour avoir remporté le titre et a adressé une mention particulière à l’équipe du Malawi après sa qualification pour la finale, lors de sa première participation au tournoi, considérant cette performance comme un exploit dont elle peut être fière.
Dans le même contexte, le président de la FIFA a souhaité bonne chance aux sélections du Ghana et de l’Afrique du Sud pour leur match de barrage qualificatif à la Coupe du monde féminine 2027.
