Fès – La ville de Fès a connu ces derniers jours le transfert des restes du tombeau connu populairement sous le nom de “Sidi El Makhfi” vers le cimetière Cimetière Abou Bakr Al Arabi, après de longues années durant lesquelles le site avait suscité l’intérêt des habitants et des visiteurs en raison de son emplacement inhabituel et des récits populaires qui l’entouraient.
Fes – The city of Fès recently witnessed the transfer of the remains from the grave popularly known as “Sidi El Makhfi” to the Abu Bakr Al Arabi Cemetery, after many years during which the site attracted the attention of residents and visitors because of its unusual location and the stories associated with it.

Le tombeau était situé près de Place Boujloud et de Bab Makina, où il demeurait isolé au milieu d’un espace ouvert, après la disparition de la plupart des traces de l’ancien cimetière qui abritait autrefois des dizaines de tombes avant le réaménagement de la zone dans les années soixante.
The grave was located near Boujloud Square and Bab Makina, where it stood alone in an open area after most traces of the old cemetery, which once contained dozens of graves, disappeared following the redevelopment of the area in the 1960s.

Le lieu est devenu célèbre parmi les habitants de Fès en raison des nombreuses histoires populaires transmises de génération en génération, notamment des récits évoquant l’impossibilité de déplacer le tombeau dans le passé, ainsi que d’autres anecdotes ayant contribué à renforcer le caractère mystérieux du site dans l’imaginaire collectif local.
The site became famous among the residents of Fès due to various folk tales passed down through generations, including stories claiming that previous attempts to remove the grave had failed, along with other accounts that reinforced the site’s mysterious reputation in local popular imagination.

À l’inverse, certains observateurs estiment que le tombeau n’était qu’un vestige de l’ancien cimetière de la zone, considérant que les récits qui l’entourent relèvent principalement des traditions orales associées aux lieux historiques de l’ancienne médina de Fès.
On the other hand, some observers believe that the grave was simply a remaining part of the old cemetery that once existed in the area, considering the stories surrounding it to be part of the oral traditions linked to the historic sites of the old medina of Fès.

Au cours des dernières années, la renommée du site s’est accentuée après la transformation de l’espace avoisinant en parking, tandis que le tombeau conservait sa place au milieu des transformations urbaines qu’a connues la zone.
Over the past years, the site gained even greater attention after the surrounding area was converted into a parking space, while the grave itself remained in place amid the urban changes affecting the nearby environment.
