Missour – The Moroccan Association for Human Rights – Missour branch – has issued a statement expressing its condemnation of what it described as the “deprivation of residents from access to drinking water for extended periods,” particularly as the outage coincided with the first days of Ramadan. The association considers that the situation worsens citizens’ suffering during this sensitive period.
Missour – L’Association Marocaine des Droits Humains – section de Missour – a publié un communiqué dénonçant ce qu’elle a qualifié de « privation des habitants d’eau potable pendant de longues périodes », notamment avec l’enregistrement de coupures durant les premiers jours du mois de Ramadan. L’association estime que cette situation aggrave la souffrance des citoyens durant cette période sensible.
The statement noted that residents are experiencing repeated disruptions in access to drinking water, which, according to the same source, negatively affects daily life, especially given the increased need for this vital resource during the month of Ramadan.
Le communiqué indique que les habitants subissent des coupures répétées d’eau potable, ce qui, selon la même source, impacte négativement la vie quotidienne, notamment en raison de l’augmentation des besoins en cette ressource vitale durant le mois de Ramadan.
In this context, the association’s local branch called on the residents of Missour, along with progressive political parties, human rights organizations, and various active forces in the city, to organize a protest sit-in in front of the Old Mosque in the city center, followed by a march toward the provincial headquarters, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, after the Taraweeh prayer, as stated in the release.
Dans ce contexte, la section locale de l’association a appelé les habitants de Missour, ainsi que les partis progressistes, les associations de défense des droits humains et l’ensemble des forces vives de la ville, à organiser un sit-in de protestation devant la Mosquée Al-Atiq au centre-ville, suivi d’une marche en direction du siège de la province, le mardi 24 février 2026 après la prière des Tarawih, selon le communiqué.
The statement described the management of the issue as what it called a “policy of turning a deaf ear,” urging the relevant authorities to respond to residents’ demands and to find urgent solutions to ensure a regular supply of drinking water.
Le communiqué a qualifié la gestion de ce dossier de « politique de la sourde oreille », appelant les autorités concernées à réagir aux revendications des habitants et à trouver des solutions urgentes afin de garantir un approvisionnement régulier en eau potable.
