La capitale Rabat a accueilli, vendredi dernier, une manifestation nationale d’envergure rassemblant des milliers d’avocats issus de l’ensemble des barreaux du Royaume, pour exprimer leur rejet du projet de loi organisant la profession d’avocat, qu’ils estiment porter atteinte à l’indépendance de la profession et aux garanties de la défense.
Last Friday, the capital Rabat witnessed a large-scale national protest bringing together thousands of lawyers from bar associations across the Kingdom, expressing their rejection of the draft law regulating the legal profession, which they believe undermines professional independence and defense guarantees.

Cette mobilisation, organisée devant le siège du Parlement marocain à l’appel de l’Association des barreaux du Maroc, a réuni des bâtonniers actuels et anciens ainsi que de nombreux acteurs du secteur. Les manifestants ont dénoncé plusieurs dispositions du texte, jugées de nature à introduire des changements profonds dans les systèmes disciplinaires, de formation et dans les conditions d’exercice de la profession.
The protest, held in front of the Moroccan Parliament at the call of the Association of Bar Associations of Morocco, brought together current and former bar presidents as well as numerous professionals. La manifestation a également été marquée par la présence du secrétaire général de l’Union des avocats arabes, qui a exprimé la solidarité de l’organisation avec les avocats marocains, rappelant l’importance de l’indépendance, du secret professionnel et de la protection de l’avocat comme piliers de tout système judiciaire équitable.

Les représentants des instances professionnelles ont réaffirmé leur rejet du projet, en particulier de certain articles qualifiés de “sensibles”, appelant à son retrait et à la réouverture des consultations dans une approche participative respectant les principes constitutionnels liés à l’indépendance et à l’autorégulation de la profession.
