The Government Implements the Royal Decision Establishing “Unity Day” and Adds October 31 to Paid National Holidays

The Government Council approved, yesterday Thursday, two draft decrees aimed at implementing the High Royal Decision to designate October 31 of each year as a national occasion under the title “Unity Day.”

The Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament and the government’s official spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas, explained during a press briefing following the Council’s weekly meeting that the first draft decree concerns the amendment of a decree setting the list of paid public holidays applicable to agricultural and non-agricultural activities. This draft was presented by the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills.

Baitas added that the second draft decree relates to completing a decree defining public holidays observed within public administrations, public institutions, and concessionary services. This draft was presented by the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.

According to the information provided by the minister, the adoption of “Unity Day” falls within the framework of implementing the High Royal Decision, given the strong national symbolism associated with this occasion. The measure also reflects profound meanings linked to Morocco’s national and territorial unity.

The spokesperson emphasized that designating October 31 as a national occasion aims to highlight the historic transformation in the course of the national cause, strengthen the spirit of cohesion and attachment to national constants, and safeguard the Kingdom’s legitimate rights.

Once these two decrees enter into force, “Unity Day” will be officially integrated into the list of national public holidays, ensuring its uniform application across all concerned sectors and administrations.
