Administrative Court in Fez Rules to Dismiss the President of Moulay Yacoub Municipality, His Deputy, and Other Members

At the beginning of this week, the Administrative Court of First Instance in Fez issued a ruling ordering the dismissal of the President of Moulay Yacoub Municipality, along with four other members of the municipal council, with all ensuing legal effects and immediate enforcement.

According to available information, the Administrative Court had previously placed the dismissal case under deliberation after examining a request to remove five members of the Moulay Yacoub Municipal Council, including the president and the first vice-president, before issuing its final decision.

This ruling comes within the framework of a prior administrative procedure initiated by the Governor of Moulay Yacoub Province, Samir El Khemlichi, who had decided to suspend the president of the municipality and several council members from exercising their duties, pending a judicial decision on the dismissal case.

Sources within the municipality reported that the suspension decision was based on a report prepared by the General Inspectorate of Territorial Administration, which included observations related to managerial and administrative irregularities, as well as recorded cases of conflict of interest involving some of the members concerned by the measure.

Under the procedures in force, the court’s ruling entails stripping the concerned individuals of their representative status within the municipal council and opens the way for activating the legal and regulatory measures applicable to the management of the municipality’s affairs in the coming period.
