In Implementation of Royal High Instructions: More Than One Million Livestock Farmers Receive Support After Completion of National Herd Identification

The Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests announced the completion of the national herd identification process by the end of 2025, as part of the implementation of the High Royal Directives of King Mohammed VI, aimed at supporting farmers and rebuilding the national livestock herd.

According to a statement by the ministry, the identification operation, which concluded on December 31, 2025, covered a total of 32.3 million head of livestock. It resulted in the establishment of a precise and unified database, adopted as the sole official reference for determining beneficiaries of the direct financial support program targeting livestock farmers.

The same source indicated that approximately 1.1 million livestock farmers have received support payments, either through bank transfers or payment orders, in accordance with the approved procedures.

As part of the first phase of the program, a total financial envelope of around 5.5 billion dirhams was mobilized to support livestock farmers and preserve animal wealth. To date, nearly 5.2 billion dirhams have already been disbursed.

The statement also noted that the implementation of this program coincides with a marked improvement in climatic conditions, following significant rainfall and snowfall in several mountainous areas. This improvement is expected to have a positive impact on the production of natural forage in rangelands and to support efforts to rebuild the national herd.

Regarding livestock farmers who were registered but did not benefit from the identification process for various reasons, the ministry explained that complaint submissions will continue to be received throughout January. It emphasized that the competent services, in coordination with the various stakeholders, will examine and process these cases in accordance with the procedures in force.

This program forms part of a national approach aimed at strengthening the resilience of the agricultural sector, ensuring the sustainability of the national livestock herd, and improving the conditions of livestock farmers in the face of climatic and economic challenges.
