Security Breakthrough: Intensive Field and Technical Investigations Lead to the Arrest of a Thirty-Something Suspected of International Call Hacking

Security sources reported that officers from the Regional Judicial Police Unit in the city of Nador arrested a 34-year-old man on Tuesday, January 6, suspected of involvement in a case related to compromising automated data-processing systems and hacking international telephone calls.

According to the same sources, the security operation followed a complaint filed by the legal representative of a national internet and mobile telephony service provider. This prompted the competent services to launch intensive field and technical investigations, which led to the detection of activity suspected to be linked to the rerouting of international calls into domestic calls using advanced digital techniques.

The security sources explained that, based on preliminary findings, the suspect allegedly exploited equipment and IT systems to hack national telecommunications networks by receiving international calls and redirecting them as local communications, with the aim of benefiting from tariff differences.

A search carried out at the apartment used by the suspect resulted in the seizure of several national SIM cards, as well as a laptop computer and a set of electronic devices and digital storage media suspected of being used in this criminal activity.

The individual concerned was placed in police custody pending judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to deepen the inquiry, identify any further extensions of the activity, and determine all criminal acts attributed to him.
