Proactive Alert and Maximum Readiness to Protect Wastewater Networks in the Fes–Meknes Region

The “Ma Dialna” platform reported that the Regional Multi-Service Company of Fes–Meknes has strengthened its alert and proactive intervention system as part of preventive measures aimed at reducing risks linked to weather fluctuations and ensuring the continuity and proper functioning of wastewater networks across the region’s prefectures and provinces.

According to information provided by the platform, this mobilization falls within a preventive approach based on regular monitoring and continuous cleaning of wastewater networks, particularly channels and facilities most exposed to the risks of excessive water loads during periods of heavy or prolonged rainfall.

In this context, “Ma Dialna” explained that the company has deployed specialized technical equipment, including high-pressure cleaning trucks used for deep cleaning of pipelines through powerful water jets. This allows for the removal of sediments and waste that could obstruct the natural flow of water.

These operations, according to the same source, aim to preserve the functional capacity of wastewater networks and reduce flood risks, especially in situations where rainfall exceeds the normal absorption capacity of infrastructure.

The platform quoted Mohamed Boufala, Head of the Wastewater Network Management Department at the Regional Multi-Service Company of Fes–Meknes, as stating that these proactive measures are implemented within an organized intervention system relying on a remote management platform. This system provides real-time access to accurate and updated data on wastewater flow rates.

He explained that this data is collected through sensors and measuring devices installed in rainwater collection basins and strategically distributed geographically. This enables efficient deployment of intervention teams and logistical resources, particularly in cases of excessive water loads that require pumping operations to relieve pressure on pipelines.

For her part, Asmaa El Jazouli, a technician at the company in charge of inspection operations, stated—according to “Ma Dialna”—that the company relies on camera-equipped robots to inspect the internal condition of wastewater pipes and detect potential malfunctions at an early stage.

She added that these technological tools allow for precise diagnosis of faults within the network, noting that following the recent rainfall experienced in the region, monitoring operations were intensified, without recording any major dysfunctions in the pipes covered by the initial inspections.

The “Ma Dialna” platform concluded that this multi-dimensional mobilization reflects the commitment of the Regional Multi-Service Company of Fes–Meknes to ensuring residents’ safety and maintaining the continuity and quality of wastewater services, through a proactive approach that combines field intervention, technical monitoring, and smart risk management.
