Final official data for 2025 reveal that Fes–Saïss Airport recorded an exceptional year by all standards, with air traffic approaching the milestone of 2.5 million passengers, driven by a strong tourism recovery and the major momentum generated by Morocco’s hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations.
According to figures released by the National Airports Office (ONDA), the airport maintained its position as the fifth busiest nationally, achieving growth rates that exceeded expectations compared to 2024, thanks to several key factors:
- Expansion of the air network: The launch of direct flights to 33 international destinations through more than 100 air routes, with a particular focus on strengthening connections with major European capitals and emerging tourism markets.
- Impact of AFCON 2025: The airport benefited from extensive refurbishment and modernization works to accommodate teams and fans, significantly increasing the pace of daily flights during the final weeks of the year.
- An upward trajectory: These results crown a growth trend that began in early 2024, when the airport recorded growth exceeding 12%, which accelerated markedly as major continental sporting events approached.
In parallel, works and plans continue to increase the airport’s capacity to 5 million passengers per year, as part of major structuring projects aimed at positioning the scientific capital as a leading tourism and economic hub, connecting the Fes–Meknes region to the world.
