Fes: “Titanic Building” Enters Demolition Phase… End of a Collapse “Nightmare” and Widespread Relief Among Residents (Video)

Local authorities in Fes began last week implementing evacuation procedures for the building known as the “Titanic,” in preparation for its demolition, following technical reports and warnings confirming the existence of serious risks threatening the safety of the building’s occupants and surrounding residents.

According to available information, the decision came after thorough on-site inspections conducted by the competent services, which concluded that the structure suffers from severe structural defects, including cracks and a loss of structural balance. These conditions significantly increase the likelihood of potentially serious incidents, prompting a preventive intervention to protect lives and ensure public safety.

This measure comes amid heightened concern following a tragic incident in the Massira neighborhood of Fes, where two residential buildings collapsed on the night of Tuesday–Wednesday, December 10, 2025, resulting in 22 fatalities, including children, and 16 people injured with varying degrees of severity.

In light of these developments, local sources consider the decision to evacuate and demolish the “Titanic” building an urgent necessity, given the recorded technical indicators, in order to avoid a repetition of similar tragic scenarios—especially with the presence of visible cracks and structural imbalances threatening the building’s stability.

This step forms part of a preventive approach aimed at reducing the risks posed by buildings in danger of collapse and strengthening urban safety measures, pending the completion of the legal and technical procedures related to the demolition process. Authorities have also stressed the need to safeguard the rights of affected residents, in accordance with the applicable legal framework.
