Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, announced on Wednesday in Fès that the project to establish EUWEN TEXTILES—a subsidiary of China’s Sunrise Group—is expected to triple Morocco’s national production capacity in the textile sector and create around 3,000 direct jobs.
Speaking during the official launch ceremony for the project, the minister described the new industrial unit as a structuring investment for the Fès–Meknès region, given its objectives of strengthening the industrial base and generating new job opportunities, particularly for a broad segment of job seekers and the local workforce.
According to figures presented by the minister, the total investment amounts to approximately MAD 1.4 billion, and the plant will be built on an area of about 20 hectares. The facility is expected to include an integrated production chain covering yarn and fabric manufacturing, fabric printing, and garment production, within a single industrial ecosystem.
On its socio-economic impact, Mezzour said the project is also expected to generate around 1,500 indirect jobs, potentially boosting local economic activity as well as supply and service chains linked to the industry.
The minister also cited national-level indicators, noting that Morocco’s textile sector generates an annual turnover of around MAD 60 billion, and that the number of workers registered with the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) in this field is close to 42,000.
On sustainability, he stated that the project will rely on renewable energy and water reuse, alongside modern technologies. He added that more than 80% of production will be dedicated to exports, while also meeting part of domestic market needs.
For his part, Khalid Ait Taleb, Wali of the Fès–Meknès region and Governor of Fès Prefecture, said the project fits within the region’s momentum for productive investment and aligns with the goal of job creation and strengthening Fès–Meknès’ attractiveness for industrial investment. He noted that approved private investments in the region had reached about MAD 18 billion by mid-December 2025, contributing to the creation of more than 18,000 jobs.
The launch ceremony was attended by Karim Zidane, Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, as well as the company’s representative Cecilia Liu, alongside the President of the Fès–Meknès Regional Council, the Governor of Moulay Yacoub Province, and several economic stakeholders.
