Manama (Bahrain) – December 3, 2025
The Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf concluded its Forty-Sixth Session held in Manama today, Wednesday, with a strong final communiqué reaffirming the six Gulf states’ steadfast and principled support for Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara and for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco.
The final communiqué stated verbatim: “The Supreme Council renewed its affirmation of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara and its support for the Autonomy Initiative presented by the Kingdom of Morocco as the sole basis for a realistic, practical, and lasting political solution to this regional dispute.”
The Supreme Council also welcomed United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797 issued on October 31, 2025, which explicitly adopted the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative as a serious and credible framework for a final solution to the Sahara issue.
Gulf leaders praised the decision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to adopt October 31 of each year as a national holiday under the name “Unity Day,” commemorating the date Morocco submitted the Autonomy Initiative to the United Nations.
The communiqué emphasized that this collective Gulf position comes “in line with the firm and continuous support provided by the Cooperation Council states to the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and to Moroccan sovereignty over its entire national territory.”
This new Gulf affirmation is the thirteenth consecutive one since the Marrakech Summit in 2016, reflecting complete and steadfast Gulf consensus on Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara.
