Six People Arrested in Meknes on Charges of Drug and Psychotropic Substance Trafficking

Meknes – In a successful security operation, the Meknes Security Prefecture, in coordination with the General Directorate of National Territory Surveillance, announced the arrest of six people, including two minors aged 15 each, on the morning of Tuesday, December 2, 2025. This arrest comes as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug and psychotropic substance trafficking in the city, as the arrestees are suspected of involvement in criminal activity threatening public security and public health.

Details of the Security Operation

The operation began with the arrest of three suspects inside a light vehicle in one of the neighborhoods of Meknes city, caught in the act of drug trafficking. A thorough search operation resulted in the seizure of large quantities of narcotics in their possession, including 2,380 drug pills, among them 1,195 “Ecstasy” hallucinogenic pills and 1,185 narcotic medical pills of the “Rivotril” type. Additionally, 210 grams of cocaine were found, reflecting the size of the criminal network operating in the area.

With continued investigations and research, police elements were able to identify three other individuals connected to this criminal activity. They were arrested later, with the seizure of a motorcycle suspected of being used to facilitate trafficking and distribution operations. This step confirms the efficiency of coordination between security agencies in uncovering criminal extensions.

Background of the Suspects

A check in the National Security database revealed that one of the arrestees is subject to a national search warrant issued by the judicial police services in the city of Ksar El Kebir. He is suspected of involvement in a similar case related to drug and psychotropic substance trafficking, indicating the existence of interconnected networks across Moroccan cities. This discovery reinforces the importance of security cooperation to confront drug crimes that pose an increasing threat to society.

Ongoing Judicial Procedures

All suspects have been subjected to judicial investigation procedures under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation currently focuses on uncovering potential extensions of this criminal activity, including identifying potential partners or suppliers, and documenting all criminal acts attributed to them. These steps aim to enhance deterrence and prevent the spread of such crimes in the future.

This operation comes as part of a series of security successes in combating drug trafficking in Morocco, where responsible authorities are witnessing an escalation in efforts to maintain citizens’ security. It should be noted that drug crimes, such as trafficking in Ecstasy and cocaine, negatively affect youth and society, necessitating enhanced awareness and cooperation between authorities and citizens.
