🚨 Paris Chants for Gaza: Massive Demonstration Against “Manipulation” of Fragile Ceasefire
Paris, France – The French capital Paris witnessed a massive demonstration on Saturday that marched through the city’s streets demanding a permanent ceasefire and full support for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which has been torn apart by more than two years of war between Israel and Hamas.
Organizers estimated the number of participants at 50,000 people, while Paris police stated that the crowd reached 8,400 demonstrators. The crowds marched between Republic Square and Nation Square, chanting slogans such as: “Gaza, Gaza, Paris is with you” and “From Paris to Gaza, resistance!“, raising Palestinian flags and banners denouncing “genocide” and “silence on killing“.
Demands for Permanent Ceasefire and End to “Violations”
Despite a ceasefire taking effect seven weeks ago (on October 10), Anne Tuaillon, president of the French-Palestinian Solidarity Association (AFPS), confirmed that “nothing has been resolved,” considering the current truce merely a “smokescreen.”
Tuaillon stated, in a declaration to the French news agency, that “Israel violates the ceasefire every day, continues to prevent humanitarian aid from entering Gaza, and destroys infrastructure and homes.” She called for a “permanent ceasefire and an end to genocide“.
⚖️ Calls to Impose Sanctions on Israel
The association president also called for imposing international sanctions on Israel, emphasizing that “this is the only way to apply international law.” In a related context, Tuaillon denounced the “unreasonable acceleration of settlement” in the West Bank, noting that settler violence has reached “unprecedented levels.”
Voices of Demonstrators from the Heart of the Crowd
The voices of demonstrators reflected a state of anger and sense of international helplessness. Saliha (72 years old), carrying a Palestinian flag, said she came to demonstrate against “genocide” in Gaza, denouncing the “complete impunity” that humanity watches without being able to do anything. She added: “The only thing we can do is mobilize.”
Bertrand (42 years old), an IT technician, also considered that “the massacre and genocide continue,” pointing to the necessity of “continuing pressure in the streets and through representatives” in the absence of effective economic and financial sanctions.
