Washington – The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Washington organized an official celebration on Saturday, November 8, 2025, marking the 50th anniversary of the victorious Green March, attended by Ambassador Youssef Amrani and members of the vibrant Moroccan community. Ambassador Amrani confirmed, in a tweet posted on his official account @youamrani, that this gathering represents an enduring expression of Morocco’s identity, unity, and determination, and an opportunity to honor a legacy that continues to inspire Moroccan generations at home and abroad.
Celebration Details and Significance
The event, held at the embassy premises, brought together members of the Moroccan community residing in the United States, in an atmosphere reflecting national cohesion and deep belonging to the homeland. The program focused on commemorating the historical epic of the Green March, which was launched on November 6, 1975, under the leadership of the late King Hassan II, and led to the peaceful completion of territorial unity. Ambassador Amrani emphasized that this anniversary highlights the values of unity and determination that form the essence of Moroccan identity and inspire Moroccans in the diaspora to maintain ties with their homeland.
Youssef Amrani, who has served as the Kingdom’s Ambassador to the United States since October 2023, is a veteran diplomat with a professional career spanning more than 44 years, with extensive experience in representing Morocco internationally, including previous positions as ambassador to South Africa and Latin American countries, and as Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs.
