Paris: Faten Calls on Moroccans in Europe to Participate in a Celebratory March for Unity Day on Sunday at Place Vauban

Paris – Moroccan activist Faten, residing in Paris, launched an enthusiastic call for Moroccans in Europe to join a national celebratory march on Sunday, November 9, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the victorious Green March and Unity Day, under the slogan “Morocco Unites Us… The March Brings Us Together.” The call, which spread via the X platform (Twitter), sparked widespread interaction among the Moroccan community in France, expressing national cohesion and pride in recent diplomatic achievements, especially Security Council Resolution 2797, which confirmed its support for the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty.

Details of the Call and Celebratory March

Faten, who is known for her activism in defending national causes, published a short video showing her wearing a traditional red hat, surrounded by Moroccan and French flags, in which she calls for gathering at Place Vauban in Paris on Sunday at 1:30 PM. The call came in coordination with her friend Seloua Mouslim (@MouslimSeloua), who posted the video under the hashtags #Moroccans_of_Europe and #Royal_Vision_Triumphs, emphasizing that the march will be “from the heart of France” to celebrate territorial unity and diplomatic victory.

Organizers reported that the event will include a symbolic march, artistic performances, and chanting of the national anthem, with a focus on conveying the message of cohesion to new generations in the diaspora. Positive responses came from Moroccans in Belgium and France, with some expressing regret at being unable to attend, but confirming their full support.

Context of International Celebrations of Unity Day

This march comes as part of a wave of international celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Green March, which was launched on November 6, 1975, under the leadership of the late King Hassan II, and led to the peaceful recovery of the southern provinces. His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God preserve him, declared October 31 a new national holiday titled “Unity Day,” crowning the United Nations resolution that considered the autonomy initiative “the most viable solution” to the dispute.

Moroccan communities in Europe witnessed similar events, such as marches in Brussels, with a focus on parallel diplomacy and development in the Sahara. Inside Morocco, spectacular celebrations were held in Laayoune with fireworks and artificial meteors, and news anchors on television wearing traditional Saharan attire, reflecting the general national momentum.

This call highlights the role of the Moroccan community abroad as a bridge to convey the national message, amid affirmations that “Morocco Unites Us” is a slogan embodying the struggle legacy and royal vision for a prosperous future.
