Moroccan pride in the heart of Europe: Engineer Khadija Bendam crowned a “pioneer” in the field of nuclear energy

The European capital Brussels witnessed on the evening of Monday, November 3, 2025, the organization of the European Women in Leadership Awards (EWILA) ceremony, which is dedicated to honoring distinguished women in the fields of leadership and creativity at the international level.

This edition saw the crowning of Moroccan engineer Khadija Bendam, in recognition of her outstanding contributions in the field of nuclear energy, and for the excellence of her professional and scientific career that has made her a pioneering female role model at the global level. This honor is a recognition of her inspiring journey, as she is the only woman in the world to be recently elected president of the International Council of Nuclear Institutions, an unprecedented achievement that reflects Moroccan competence in the fields of research and scientific innovation.

According to the official invitation, the ceremony was held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in the city of Brussels, attended by prominent European figures and members of the European Parliament, alongside women leaders from various countries. The award was presented to Ms. Bendam in recognition of her leadership role in promoting the principles of women’s leadership and international scientific cooperation, and her contribution to building a more equitable and inspiring society.
