United Nations Calls on All Parties to Accept Trump’s Plan for Gaza

The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, praised the U.S. plan on Tuesday aimed at establishing lasting peace in Gaza and the region, calling on all parties to commit to its implementation.

The Secretary-General welcomed the announcement made by U.S. President Donald Trump, which seeks to establish a ceasefire and sustainable peace in Gaza and the surrounding area, his spokesperson said in a statement. Guterres emphasized that “it is crucial for all parties to commit to respecting the agreement and implementing it.”

On Monday, President Trump unveiled a comprehensive plan aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza, promising to “redevelop” the strip for its population, who have “suffered too much.”

Guterres highlighted that the current priority is “to alleviate the considerable suffering caused by this conflict,” renewing his call for an “immediate and permanent ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza, and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.”

The U.N. chief also expressed hope that the plan could “create conditions to enable the implementation of the two-state solution,” while reaffirming the organization’s commitment to efforts aimed at a better future for the peoples of the region.
