The regional office of the National Union of Health in Sefrou, under the umbrella of the Democratic Confederation of Labor, has issued a strongly worded statement on August 29, 2025. It expressed its denunciation of what it described as a “humiliating” situation regarding the quality of meals provided to health staff on night duty. The union stated that these meals lack the most basic food safety standards and are served in undignified conditions.
The statement clarified that the union had received several complaints from affected health workers, supported by testimonies and photos revealing the extent of the deficiencies. This prompted the union to send an official letter to the regional delegate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection to open an urgent and serious investigation into the matter, ascertain the causes of this “defect,” and verify compliance with the terms of reference for managing food services.
The union warned that the decline in quality is not limited to meals for health staff but also affects the meals provided to patients inside the hospital, which poses a danger to their treatment and negatively impacts healthcare services in general.
It also stressed that this issue must be handled with seriousness and firmness due to its direct link to public safety and the quality of healthcare. The union affirmed its determination to continue following the case until measures are taken to rectify the situation and ensure decent working conditions that preserve the dignity of health personnel and enable them to perform their professional and humanitarian duties in the best possible circumstances.
