Fès, Monday, August 5, 2025 The Primary Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal of Fès, headed by Judge Mohammed Ben Maâshou, decided this Monday morning to postpone the criminal case against a well-known local bank executive, accused of human trafficking and facilitating prostitution, to a hearing scheduled for July 21, 2025. The postponement aims to summon witnesses and bring the defendant from the local prison of Bourkais for an in-person trial, after having been held in pretrial detention for several weeks.
Arrest at a “Massage” Business
The case stems from a raid conducted by elements of Fès’s Provincial Judicial Police at a massage parlor in the city center, suspected of offering sexual services under the guise of “therapeutic massage.” The operation led to the arrest of seven people, including the bank executive, six women suspected of engaging in prostitution, and another person caught in the act.
According to reported details, the bank executive was managing the establishment, and during the arrests, one of the detained women was found in possession of narcotics, prompting her to be held under investigative custody as well.
Public Prosecutor’s Decisions
The main defendant was referred to the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal of Fès, while a second female suspect was brought before the Public Prosecutor at the competent Primary Court. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend another principal suspect who remains at large.
Additionally, the public prosecutor ordered the release of one of the people arrested after his wife withdrew the adultery accusation against him. The six detained women were classified as “victims of human trafficking” and were released after being formally heard and their statements recorded.
Continued Detention
The bank executive continues to be held in pretrial detention until the next hearing, as the court awaits further developments from investigations and expected witness testimonies.
