Following the circulation of a brief video on social media containing statements attributed to the mother of the Shibli brothers, alleging arbitrary arrest and criticizing the conditions of their detention, an official security source has provided detailed clarifications regarding the incident.
The source confirmed that the case dates back to June 27, 2025, when the two brothers were arrested in Ben Guerir while openly intoxicated. The arrest occurred after one of them insulted police officers with abusive language during their intervention to stop him from live streaming on social media, which showed the police station and civilians present.
Additionally, the second brother unlawfully entered the police station premises, causing disorder and breaking a glass window in the building, which led to his immediate arrest.
The judicial police, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, completed all investigation procedures before referring the two suspects to justice. The court decided to prosecute them in custody and remand them to the local prison in Ben Guerir.
Regarding the detainees’ health, the source explained that both underwent the necessary medical examinations during the custody period, as confirmed by the public prosecutor’s official statement. It was also noted that one of the brothers was recently transferred to the Marrakech University Hospital for further examinations before being allowed to return to prison under normal conditions and in accordance with established procedures.
