Ibn Jarir: Two Men Arrested for Public Intoxication, Insulting Police Officers, and Causing Chaos in Police Station

Ibn Jarir, Morocco – June 28, 2025 — The Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Ibn Jarir First Instance Court issued a statement on Saturday refuting claims circulating on social media regarding the alleged “arbitrary arrest” of two individuals. The statement clarified that the arrests were legal and justified, following acts of public disorder and insulting police officers while under the influence of alcohol.

Incident Details

According to the official statement, the first suspect was arrested in the early hours of Friday after attempting to livestream from outside the police station, capturing footage of the facility and civilians while engaging in a conversation with an individual residing abroad concerning an ongoing court case in Marrakesh.

When police officers attempted to stop the unauthorized recording — which violated legal boundaries — the suspect verbally abused them with offensive language while in a state of public intoxication, prompting his arrest under applicable legal provisions.

Shortly afterward, the suspect’s brother entered the police station, also heavily intoxicated, and proceeded to insult officers and break an internal window, further escalating the situation and resulting in his arrest as well.

Legal Procedures and Medical Checks

The Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that both individuals were placed in police custody under legal supervision, pending an investigation into charges including:

  • Public drunkenness
  • Insulting public officials while on duty
  • Damaging public property

Both suspects were taken to a hospital for medical examination, and authorities affirmed that all legal rights and procedural guarantees were upheld during their custody.

Awaiting Legal Action

The statement concluded that the two individuals will be brought before the competent Public Prosecutor as soon as the investigation is complete, and that legal action will be taken accordingly.
