Heatwave and Thunderstorms Expected Saturday Across Several Regions in Morocco

The General Directorate of Meteorology forecasts the continuation of a heatwave across various regions of the Kingdom today, Saturday, June 22, 2025. Affected areas include parts of the southern Rif, Saïss, Moulouya Valley, the phosphate plateaus and Oulmes, Tadla plains, Rehamna, the southeastern regions, and the interior of the southern provinces.

In a special weather bulletin, meteorologists warned of the formation of localized thunderclouds accompanied by rain showers or downpours, possibly with hail. These are expected over the High and Middle Atlas Mountains, eastern slopes, Rif, and the phosphate plateaus, which may also generate strong wind gusts due to storm activity.

Fog patches are expected at night and during early morning hours along the northern and central Atlantic coasts, the Mediterranean coast, and the western Saharan provinces, due to low cloud formations.

Moderately strong winds carrying dust are also expected in regions such as the Atlas, Saïss, the southeast, central coast, and the southern provinces.

Temperatures:

  • Minimum: Between 21°C and 27°C in Tadla, Moulouya Valley, and southeastern areas; between 16°C and 22°C elsewhere.
  • Maximum (daytime): Expected to rise slightly in the Middle and Anti-Atlas and southern Saharan areas, while decreasing significantly in most other regions.

Sea Conditions:

  • Mediterranean coast: Calm to slightly rough
  • Strait of Gibraltar: Calm to slightly rough
  • North of Dakhla: Slightly rough to rough
  • South of Dakhla: Rough to very rough
