The police in Marrakech arrested, during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, a suspect believed to be involved in the vandalism of six cars parked in Antaqi Square, after breaking their windows using an iron rod.
A security source explained that the suspect, who was recently released from prison after serving a five-year sentence for theft accompanied by violence, used an iron stick to smash the windows of several vehicles, causing panic among citizens and prompting the rapid intervention of the second police precinct officers under the direct supervision of the precinct chief.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was accompanied by another individual who was also detained, but after questioning, it was confirmed that the latter was not involved in the incident and was subsequently released.
The source added that some of the victims immediately identified the suspect upon his arrest. He was then taken to the police station and placed under judicial custody upon the orders of the public prosecutor, pending further investigation to uncover the motives behind this criminal act.
