Several members of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen) have expressed their unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco, reaffirming the strong ties of cooperation and friendship that bind Morocco to this regional body. Their declaration comes in response to recent developments within the institution.
In a joint statement signed by MPs from various member states, the parliamentarians emphasized that Morocco remains a strategic partner committed to the values of peace, intercultural dialogue, and sustainable development. They also praised the Kingdom’s key role in strengthening cooperation between Africa, Central America, and the Dominican Republic through constructive diplomatic, cultural, and parliamentary initiatives.
The signatories firmly rejected any attempt to exploit Parlacen as a platform for promoting separatist narratives that do not reflect the collective stance of the institution. This was a direct response to a statement issued on May 28, 2025, by a leftist parliamentary group expressing support for the so-called “Sahrawi Republic.”
In their new declaration, the MPs reaffirmed three key points:
- Their clear and continuous support for Morocco’s territorial integrity.
- The recognition of Morocco as a strategic partner committed to international legitimacy and multilateral cooperation.
- A call on Parlacen’s leadership to ensure that official positions reflect the will of the majority and to avoid being swayed by narrow agendas that undermine the institution’s credibility.
This renewed stance highlights once again the growing international support Morocco enjoys regarding the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, in full respect of international legitimacy and in favor of the autonomy plan proposed by the Kingdom under its national sovereignty.
