Minister of Economy: 75% of Social Protection Beneficiaries Have Accounts in Payment Institutions

On Monday, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, Minister of Economy and Finance, revealed before the House of Representatives that 75% of beneficiaries of the social protection initiative now hold bank accounts at payment institutions. This reflects significant progress in facilitating direct access to financial support and services.

In response to a question from the National Rally of Independents party regarding the role of banking institutions in implementing the social protection program, the minister stated that approximately 3.9 million families had benefited from this royal initiative by the end of May 2025, with a total disbursed amount nearing 2 billion Moroccan dirhams.

The government official confirmed that the payment of these aids was carried out through flexible and appropriate banking procedures. She noted that the annual cost of services does not exceed 60 dirhams, equivalent to just 5 dirhams per month, considering the purchasing power of vulnerable groups.

Furthermore, the minister emphasized that banks and payment institutions have offered tailored services, especially for rural areas, enabling citizens to effectively benefit from social coverage and facilitating access to support. This step underscores the political will to achieve social and economic justice.
