The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, has granted an exceptional rank promotion to a police officer from the mobile motorbike unit of the El Fida Mers Sultan district in Casablanca, who sustained serious injuries in a deliberate hit-and-run incident while performing his official duties.
According to an official statement, the injured officer has been promoted to the rank of “Senior Police Officer” (Officier de Police Principal), in recognition of his high professional integrity, self-sacrifice, and dedication while attempting to arrest a wanted individual with multiple national warrants related to illegal drug and alcohol trafficking.
The officer was severely injured after the suspect deliberately struck him with his vehicle while trying to escape. The suspect was subdued and arrested on the spot and placed in custody pending legal proceedings. Meanwhile, the injured officer was transferred to a clinic for urgent medical care and remains under supervision.
This exceptional promotion is in accordance with Article 29 of the national security personnel statute, reinforcing the state’s commitment to protecting officers in the line of duty, especially when they risk their lives to safeguard national security and public safety.
The initiative also highlights the General Directorate of National Security’s dedication to the moral, social, and medical support of its officers, reflecting deep appreciation for the daily sacrifices made by men and women in law enforcement to uphold peace and stability.
