Ifrane –
Local observers in the province of Ifrane are urgently calling for the acceleration of road rehabilitation and paving in the rural commune of Ain Leuh, in order to end the isolation affecting several villages. These areas face severe transportation challenges, especially during periods of heavy rain and snowfall.
Civil society actors have confirmed that numerous roadways are in poor condition, significantly complicating daily movement and disrupting the flow of people and goods. The deteriorated infrastructure also negatively impacts access to vital social and economic services in the region.
The call for improvement includes several key road segments, such as the route connecting Regional Road No. 7311 to Douar Ait Boukchan, the road linking Douar Ait Ali Rekkada to Ait Bagha, and the road from Ain Leuh to Douar Ait Hou. Another major demand is the improvement of the route from the weekly market to Tchinniouine.
Additional roads in need of urgent rehabilitation include the route between Douar Taberghazit and Ait Ali Aqqa, the road from Taknit to Takelmamene, and the road from Toufasselt to Douar Ait Hado Ayach. There are also calls to improve the road connecting Ain Leuh to Admran and the one between Ijâabou and Ain Leuh (Baski).
These demands align with repeated calls for better rural road infrastructure, seen as essential to promoting spatial justice and reducing social inequalities. Enhancing connectivity is key to ensuring access to basic services and helping residents live with dignity.
Local stakeholders believe that responding to these needs will directly stimulate the local economy, ease access to critical services, and enhance Ain Leuh’s appeal for future development and tourism projects.
