As part of the celebrations marking the 48th anniversary of the Green March, the Governor of Boulemane Province, Mr. Abdelhaq Hamdaoui, presided over the inauguration and launch of several major development projects on Thursday, aiming to enhance infrastructure, improve living conditions, and reduce territorial and social disparities in rural areas. These initiatives are part of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH).
In a key step toward upgrading the region’s infrastructure, Mr. Hamdaoui launched the second phase of the road expansion and reinforcement project linking Ait Bouziane to Oued El Haj and Ait Omar, covering a distance of 2.5 kilometers with an investment of 4 million dirhams. The project is expected to benefit around 1,500 residents.
Additionally, the regional road RP5123 is undergoing expansion and reinforcement over 18 kilometers, with a budget of 26 million dirhams. This project will improve mobility and connectivity for approximately 23,000 people across neighboring villages.
As part of efforts to ensure universal access to clean drinking water, the Governor also inaugurated a potable water supply project for the villages of Ait Ouriach and Tazmourt in the Talzemt commune. The 738,000-dirham project will benefit 80 families, and falls under the broader program to bridge rural infrastructure gaps.
In another socially impactful move, Mr. Hamdaoui inaugurated a Center for Reception and Support of Persons with Disabilities in the commune of Imouzzer Marmoucha. This 1.3 million-dirham facility will provide therapeutic and educational services to around 50 people with special needs, reinforcing social inclusion and the right to healthcare and education.
In a press statement, Fouad Haji, Head of the Social Action Department at the Boulemane Province, stated that these projects are expected to have a profound positive impact on the local population by improving daily living conditions and boosting agricultural productivity.
Khalid Hamniche, the Provincial Delegate of Cooperation, emphasized that the newly launched disability support center will offer a range of integrated services, including special education, psychological counseling, and physical therapy, addressing the needs of a vulnerable segment of the population.
These initiatives form part of a larger development program aimed at enhancing human development and living standards in rural and mountainous regions, reflecting the Moroccan state’s commitment to achieving balanced and inclusive territorial development.
