Theft of 23 UAE Aid Trucks Bound for Gaza

Operation “Fares Al-Shamm 3”, a UAE-led initiative to aid the people of Gaza, has announced the theft of 23 aid trucks after they entered Gaza in areas under Israeli control.

According to a statement released by the operation on Saturday, last Wednesday saw the entry of a number of trucks carrying flour and bakery supplies into warehouses, which had raised hopes of bakeries resuming operations in the sector. However, it was planned that 103 additional trucks carrying flour, gas, oil, salt, sugar, and other necessary supplies for bakeries would enter, but only a few trucks were allowed in.

The operation confirmed that only 24 trucks were allowed to enter, and only one truck’s cargo actually reached the warehouses.

The reason for this, according to the operation, was the Israeli army’s insistence on imposing unsafe crossing routes, which exposed the trucks to looting and theft within the “red zone” under Israeli control, resulting in the loss of most of the cargo.

Operation “Fares Al-Shamm 3” expressed its deep regret and strong condemnation of these attacks, which deprive the people of Gaza of their rightful access to food and basic humanitarian aid, stressing that the continued obstruction of relief efforts for approximately 2.3 million civilians in the sector threatens a severe exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis.

The operation appealed to the international community and all concerned parties to intervene urgently and ensure the provision of safe and permanent corridors for the secure and rapid delivery of aid.

It emphasized that “in line with the UAE’s steadfast commitment to standing with the Palestinian people in their plight, Operation Fares Al-Shamm 3 continues its intensive humanitarian efforts to provide urgent relief aid to the Gaza Strip”.
