Police Officer in Marrakesh Forced to Use His Service Weapon to Stop Armed Criminal Endangering Citizens and Police

Marrakesh – A police officer from the motorcycle unit of the Marrakesh Security Directorate was forced to use his service weapon on Thursday, May 22, to neutralize the threat posed by a person exhibiting signs of mental disturbance and behaving in a way that endangered public safety.

According to initial information, the suspect was threatening pedestrians with stones and a sharp knife, resulting in an injury to a foreign tourist on the face. One of the police officers immediately intervened, using his service weapon, which led to the suspect being shot in the lower limbs.

The suspect was taken to the hospital, where he is under medical surveillance as part of a judicial investigation ordered by the public prosecutor to determine the full circumstances and details of the incident. Meanwhile, the victim received first aid at the hospital and is undergoing treatment.

Security services continue to investigate the motives behind the suspect’s actions and the level of threat posed to the safety and security of citizens.
