Several sports associations in the city of Ifrane have expressed deep dissatisfaction with what they describe as “systematic discrimination” in access to public sports facilities. They accused certain authorities of favoring one specific party that enjoys exclusive and permanent access to these venues, while unjustifiably excluding other active associations in the city.
According to local sources, these associations have sent letters of protest to local authorities and elected councils, calling for urgent intervention to uphold the principle of equal opportunity and to implement good governance in the management of sports facilities funded by public money.
In separate statements, the associations emphasized that this “inexplicable exclusion” undermines their efforts to promote sports and develop young talent. They argued that it creates an atmosphere of tension and frustration within the local sports community, stressing that sports are a collective right that should be accessible to all without exception or discrimination.
The associations called on the relevant authorities to launch a fair and transparent investigation into the causes of the current situation and to disclose the criteria used in allocating time slots for the use of public sports infrastructure. They also demanded a fair and transparent approach that ensures equal and equitable access for all active associations.
In the coming days, coordination meetings are expected to be held among the affected associations to develop a joint list of demands and push for comprehensive reform in the management of the city’s sports facilities, in a way that serves the youth and strengthens the role of sports as a driver of community development.
