After Report on Shortages… Fez-Meknes Health Delegation Responds by Supplying Medication to Skoura M’daz Clinic in Boulemane Province

In response to the demands voiced by residents of the Skoura M’daz commune in Boulemane Province, and following a report previously published by the newspaper on the ongoing shortage of insulin at the local health center, the Regional Delegation of Health and Social Protection in the Fez-Meknes region confirmed that essential medications — including insulin — are once again available at the clinic.

According to local health sources, the center has been restocked with the necessary medications for diabetic patients, including treatment tablets. The sources noted that only one type of insulin — “rapid-acting insulin” (insuline rapide) — experienced a temporary supply delay, which has since been resolved.

This development comes after mobilization by civil society and appeals from patients who had previously raised alarms on social media platforms, warning of the serious health risks faced by diabetic patients due to the lack of this vital medication and their inability to afford it from private pharmacies due to high costs.

The newspaper had earlier published an article highlighting the suffering of residents amid the acute shortage of insulin and basic health services, which led to public frustration and a growing sense of disappointment over the lack of institutional response to citizens’ appeals.

While observers have considered this recent response a positive step, they emphasized the need to establish a permanent mechanism to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential treatments to health centers — particularly in rural areas, which suffer from chronically fragile healthcare infrastructure.
