Has Your TLS Appointment Been Delayed? Here’s Why—And What You Can Do

A growing number of Moroccans seeking a Schengen visa are experiencing significant delays in securing appointments to submit their applications at TLScontact centers, which are authorized by several European consulates—most notably those of France and Italy. These delays have raised many questions, especially with the rising demand for visas during the academic and summer holiday seasons, disrupting the plans of many students and travelers.

According to industry sources, this pressure is due to several overlapping reasons. Chief among them is the sharp increase in the number of visa applicants, which exceeds the daily processing capacity of TLS centers, particularly in major cities like Casablanca, Rabat, and Tangier. The situation has worsened as some consulates have reduced their daily appointment quotas, alongside tighter document verification measures and increased security checks.

Additionally, informed sources point to the growing impact of brokers and the random booking of appointments by unofficial intermediaries. Some of these individuals book large numbers of slots with the intent of reselling them, effectively blocking legitimate access for citizens trying to apply through legal channels.

In this context, the French Consulate General in Casablanca previously acknowledged the difficulty of accessing appointments. It stated that it is working in coordination with the contracted company to resolve the issue and intensify efforts to combat digital monopolization and appointment scalping.

As for possible solutions, professional sources recommend that applicants regularly check the official TLS website, as new appointment slots are sometimes released without prior notice. It is also strongly advised to avoid dealing with intermediaries due to the risk of fraud or consular rejection in cases of manipulation.

Civil society actors are calling on the Moroccan government to open direct channels of communication with European missions to reconsider the quota system and provide enough appointments to meet the increasing demand—particularly with summer approaching, a peak time for visa requests.

Amid these challenges, enhancing transparency and strengthening technical and administrative oversight of appointment systems are among the top demands from citizens seeking fairer and more accessible services for travel related to work, studies, or tourism.
