Cairo: African football enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating today’s crucial semifinal match in the Africa U20 Cup of Nations, where Morocco’s U20 national team (the Atlas Lions), led by coach Mohamed Ouahbi, will take on host nation Egypt (the Pharaohs).
The Atlas Lions are just one victory away from reaching the grand final of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations held in Egypt. After securing their spot in the semifinals by defeating Sierra Leone 1-0 in the quarterfinals and topping their group in the first round, coach Mohamed Ouahbi’s protégés are now fully focused on achieving a win against the host country today.
“The plan remains the same, whether it’s against Egypt or another team. What we want is to reach the final and win it,” stated Coach Ouahbi during the pre-match press conference. Much like the U17 national team, who were crowned African champions just a few weeks ago, Ouahbi also aims to bring the continental trophy home.
It’s worth noting that the U20 national team has remained undefeated since the start of the continental competition. With 7 points from the group stage, the Lions won two matches against Kenya (3-2) and Tunisia (3-1) and drew with Nigeria. In the quarterfinals, they overcame Sierra Leone.
Today’s match against Egypt, the host nation, marks a decisive moment for the young Atlas Lions. Despite already qualifying for the U20 World Cup, they are aiming high and appear highly motivated to clinch this continental title.

The match kicks off at 7:00 PM Moroccan time (7:00 PM GMT+1). The game will be broadcast live on Arryadia (Moroccan national channel) via its TNT version, as well as on the CAF TV YouTube channel, and on beIN Sports 6.
