126 Pregnant Women Receive Medical Checkups in Boulemane as Part of National Maternal Health Campaign

The provincial health delegation in Boulemane has joined the nationwide maternal health awareness campaign launched by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in partnership with the National Initiative for Human Development, under the slogan: “Let’s speed up and complete pregnancy visits… to protect the health of mother and child.”

Running from April 7 to May 8, 2025, the campaign aims to strengthen regular prenatal monitoring and raise awareness about the critical importance of early child development.

In Boulemane province, the campaign involved several awareness-raising activities across rural communes such as Sidi Boutayeb, Kékou, Outat El Haj, and Tandidt. These efforts were conducted in coordination with local authorities and in collaboration with the provincial delegation for national cooperation and local civil society organizations managing maternity homes.

The campaign provided comprehensive health services for pregnant and breastfeeding women, including:

  • 126 ultrasound scans
  • 14 fetal heart monitoring sessions
  • 150 rapid HIV tests
  • 50 syphilis screenings
  • 125 microalbuminuria tests
  • 222 blood sugar level checks
  • 222 blood pressure readings
  • 126 prenatal checkups
  • 39 postnatal consultations

Additionally, 107 women participated in educational workshops on pregnancy monitoring, proper nutrition, and the importance of exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months. Special focus was placed on the “first 1,000 days” of a child’s life—a crucial period for development.

To support mothers, 107 care kits were distributed, reflecting the campaign’s strong social dimension.

This initiative reinforces national efforts to improve maternal and child health, reduce mortality rates, and support the well-being of future generations, aligning with the strategic priorities of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.
